A Dream Come True Playground Wins Award

“A Dream Come True Playground” Wins Award
“A Dream Come True Playground” was recently awarded by the Virginia Recreation and Park Society (VRPS) Best New Facility.
This playground was made possible by a small Girl Scout Troop in Harrisonburg, VA that had a dream of creating a play environment where children in their town and surrounding areas of all abilities had the opportunity to play side-by-side.

They were able to turn this dream into a reality by first partnering with Scott DuBois of Southern Playground and Play & Park Structures who they believed showed great leadership in inclusive play and who truly understood their goal. Now all they needed were funds. They applied for grants, held bake sales, and worked with local businesses and churches to request donations.
After nine years of persistence and hard work the troop raised $1.4 million and found the perfect home for “A Dream Come True Playground” who is now carrying the title for Best New Facility.
